Though Komarov and Organized Matter didn't officially pitch their ideas for the party until the summer, the team is on a constant hunt for pieces to rescue and reimagine in a way that might make a statement. One piece that Komarov considers particularly ambitious is the scratched acrylic mirror, which she and her team hand-painted and transformed into a moody art piece that seems to ripple with a smoky haziness.

“It was a huge pile of stuff that was never going to decompose,” she says. “Once painted, the result exceeded our expectations. The mirror retained a subtle luminosity that glows from beneath the surface, giving the piece a depth and lightness that felt both intentional and unexpected.”
